Bike Scavenger Hunt for the SHAC7
The SHAC7, a group of animal rights activists convicted of federal crimes for their participation in a campaign to close a cruel laboratory, is petitioning to bring their First Amendment case to the Supreme Court. You can help them raise funds for this expensive process by joining the Bike Scavenger Hunt for the SHAC7.

Here's how it works:

1. Meet in Gasworks Park at 6:30pm. Bring your bike, a helmet, a digital camera, and your $15 entry fee.
2. Form a team of up to four people, or ride on your own if you prefer.
3. A list of clues will be distributed. Feel free to use maps and smartphones to decipher them.
4. You will have two hours to ride around on your bikes and photograph your team with as many of the targets as you can. Many of the targets will be clustered in a nearby neighborhood, so the ride will not be too strenuous for people who don't ride their bikes often.
5. We will meet back at Gasworks for an afterparty and prizes at 8:30pm.
Prizes include gift certificates to Sidecar for Pigs Peace and Cosmos Vegan Shoppe, a t-shirt from Lion's Share Industries, and a vegan chocolate gift basket from The Chocolate Shoebox!

Don't ride a bike? Please consider volunteering at the event or making a donation, and definitely join us for the afterparty. We will meet back up at Gasworks Park for snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. And please invite your friends!

For more information about the event, please email bike4shac7@gmail.com and for more information about the SHAC7 case, please visit www.shac7.com.

Thanks, and hope to see you there!

Show and night swimming at the T-Dock wiht Wols (TX), Golden Arrow Holy Face (TX), Led To Sea, Mega Bog
Hey there,
So, this is sort of an extension of the Seattle Secret Show but rather than being sneaky, I'm just telling everyone where it is.

This Saturday we are setting up a really good show that will be taking place on the T-Dock on Lake Washington Blvd.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the T-Dock, it is just south of Madrona Beach.  If you are into swimming, come prepared and we can turn it into a late night swimming party!

We have two bands coming all the way from Tejas (second biggest state!) to play for us.  They are Wols (www.myspace.com/wolsies) and Golden Arrow Holy Face (www.myspace.com).  I am really excited to see them and you should be too!

There are also two Seattle projects that will be peforming.  They are both amazing and I think a perfect fit for this setting!  They are Led to Sea (www.myspace.com/ledtosea) and Mega Bog (www.myspace.com).

This is going to be a really great show and since I am moving to Whidbey Island soon, this might be the last one of these I ever do.  Come out, listen to good music in a cool setting and go night swimming!

Vincent Moon Retrospective at Northwest Film Forum
Vincent Moon Retrospnwfilmforum.org

AUGUST 20-26, 2010 Director in attendance!   His real name is Mathieu Saura, but it's under the name of Vincent Moon that music fans from all over the world know the 30-year-old filmmaker, who has reinvented the music video as a documentary. After studying under photographers Michael Ackerman and Antoine D'Agata, the young music aficionado became increasingly interested in moving images. The combination of music and film could easily have ended in MTV-land. But according to Moon, the usual music video has long been stuck in this limited marketing world.   Starting in 2006 with his Take Away Shows, Moon has offered a non-commercial alternative: small, short films that capture musicians in the alleys, hallways and elevators of the real world, without amplifiers or special effects. The Take Away Shows paved the way for larger film projects and Moon's far-reaching résumé, which now includes concert films and documentaries, all equipped with the special shadow/light aesthetic that give his images a special abstract quality.   Moon's greatest strength may be his ability to capture music without superfluous embellishments. He is a sonic adventurer, constantly seeking new musical treasure chests. He not only discovers, he participates, with his camera as an instrument: while in Seattle for this retrospective Moon will, with a single extended tracking shot, produce a new one-shot film with local Seattle musicians.   Take a workshop with Vincent Moon:

Craft Night is a weekly event where people gather and work on a current (individual or group) art, craft and/or political project(s). However, Craft Night is not limited to a strict definition and can evolve into many forms and shapes depending on who becomes a part of it.

Loosely, Craft Night:

Happens once a week (Wednesdays). Is BYOS(Bring Your Own Supplies).Promotes a community that supports people who appreciate people, arts, crafts, political movements, working together and having a good time. Can be a place for people working on individual projects to talk and work along with other people working on individual projects.A place where people currently involved with (or interested in becoming involved with) group projects can meet.Is Fun!
